There is no limit to the number of zombies you can resurrect. Getting this first zombie to work is very easy, you just have to pick him up (E) and to place him in one of the many stations where zombies can work. So, rather than using it as intended to get clues to possible combinations, I've used it to create materials I wouldn't otherwise have easy access to. I reverse engineered the goo discovery system by looking at existing recipes and finding the common elements which were used in recipes with the rarer elements.
